Test Preparation

ACT Science Support

The ACT science section has a unique format that is unlike traditional classroom tests.  Megan or Libby will prepare your students with strategies that will allow them to navigate all three types of passages properly considering the short amount of time they are given.  The science section is not just another reading section; your students will learn attention to the valuable details and critical thinking through data analysis. They will address testing stamina considering science is the final section of the test. Our approach is tailored to fit the individual needs of each student.

ACT and SAT Math Support

The Math section of the ACT is a reading comprehension exam about math topics. The 3 steps to success on the math ACT are:

1. Reading comprehension

2. Logic, common sense, deductive reasoning and calculator use

3. Mathematical skills

Annette will teach your student how to apply these steps in taking the math portion.  Part of the teaching involves detailed calculator work. Strategy plays a large role in the math section as well.

As a part of the NEW Digital SAT exam, students will complete two adaptive modules that assess their mathematical skills from a range of content. Annette prepares students for this new digital testing experience, including assistance with effectively using their calculator on the new expanded calculator section.

ACT and SAT English Support

There are two distinct verbal sections on the ACT- English and Reading. Amy fully prepares every student to tackle both subjects by teaching content, rules, and strategies. The English section puts the student in the position of a writer who makes decisions to revise and edit a text.  Amy teaches specific content as well as provides tools to allow students to improve and increase their score on this portion.

The reading section measures a student’s ability to read closely, reason logically about texts, and integrate information from different sources.  Amy helps students learn the questions to expect for each passage and how to find the essential evidence for success and accuracy in the reading portion.

The Reading and Writing sections on the NEW digital SAT exam will take students through a series of adaptive questions. Amy will help students to master questions on module 1 in order to maximize their access to the highest possible scoring level with module 2.
